PIERZ, MINNESOTA
Our Story
A family barn built on trust, competition, and a deep respect for the land and the people who work it.
Since 1981, Rich Prairie Livestock Exchange has been a cornerstone of central Minnesota cattle country. Joe Varner of Brainerd and Rich Boser of Pierz built the barn together on a simple observation: there were plenty of cattle in the region that deserved a good market. Rich Boser co-owned the barn for decades, and Rich Perry served as a key owner and operator through 2020, helping build its name for honest dealing and strong buyer competition. When Cody Varner, Joe's son, took over full ownership in 2020, he carried that culture forward: a competitive ring, real care for every producer, and a crew of about 20 that shows up every Monday. Today the barn moves roughly 35,000 head a year.
